Folding Mesh Cages: Features & Customization
Folding wire mesh cages — also called storage cages or butterfly cages — are unitized metal containers commonly used in warehousing and logistics. They hold stored goods securely, keep stacking tidy, make contents visible at a glance and simplify inventory counting, while also improving the effective use of warehouse space. Built rugged for reliable service, easy to transport and reusable, they effectively cut the labor and packaging costs of warehousing.
Wide range of applications. Folding wire mesh cages are used in production workshops and as display, promotion and storage units in supermarkets. Improved models can be placed directly on warehouse floors or assembly lines and stacked for storage. Cages fitted with wheels allow fast turnover around the workshop; with tow fittings added, several cages can be linked in a train and move freely between warehouse and plant. Models with PVC or steel sheets stop small items from falling through, while larger-mesh models suit cartons or light goods, avoiding direct pallet compression that could damage products.
Folding structure saves space. When idle, clip-on or hinge designs let the cage collapse to a fraction of its size — folded height is about one quarter to one third of the expanded height, and ten folded cages take about the space of one expanded one. For industries with off-peak and peak seasons, cages can be collapsed and stored to save floor space in the low season and quickly unfolded for use at peak, without renting extra temporary warehouse space.
Easy to operate and built to last. With a user-friendly design, no tools are needed: one person can fold or unfold a cage in one to two minutes. The cage has an access gate for easy loading and unloading, and works with forklifts, pallet trucks and similar equipment to combine storage, turnover and transport. The body is precision-welded from Q235 low-carbon steel or high-tensile wire, with denser mesh and a U-shaped bottom reinforcement; rated dynamic load is about 0.5 to 2 tons and static load about 1 to 5 tons, and repeated long-term stacking resists deformation. Surfaces are cold-galvanized, hot-dip galvanized or electrostatic powder coated for water, moisture and rust resistance across workshop environments.
