500 kg-Level Beam Rack Structure Explained
Heavy-duty rack is a widely used rack form in the Nanjing rack industry, named for carrying more than 500kg per level. It offers good picking efficiency and stores heavier goods, though storage density is relatively lower. Also called pallet rack, it features heavy load, a wide height range, machine operation and high picking efficiency, and is widely used in manufacturing, third-party logistics and distribution centers — suiting both many-item small-batch goods and few-item large-batch goods, and commonly used in high-bay and very-high-bay warehouses.
Upright and beam structure. Heavy-duty beam racks are generally made of cold-rolled special-shaped steel: uprights are 80(90)×60(70) Ω-shaped steel with diamond-shaped holes punched in the surface; beams are welded box beams in sizes from 80×50 to 160×50 with connecting hooks, and pallets usually replace shelf boards for forklift handling. Per-level load design ranges from 1 to 5 tons; the electrostatic powder-coated surface gives strong water, rust and corrosion resistance with a high safety factor.
Assembly and safety design. Heavy-duty racks are assembled from uprights, beams, horizontal bracing, diagonal bracing and self-locking bolts, effectively preventing instability after bolts loosen. Beams are special cold-rolled closed P-beams — simple and reliable, light, strong in load and low in cost. Beam connectors carry specially designed safety pins that keep beams from coming loose under impact. Shelf boards are strip-style, strong, wear-resistant, simple to replace and low in maintenance cost.
Installation and use. Heavy-duty racks use plug-in assembly with no screws or welding, so they are very easy to put up and make full use of floor area to boost storage. They are low-cost, safe and reliable, and simple to dismantle; they suit manual picking of cartoned goods or, with parts bins and turnover boxes, loose heavy items, with a standard effective per-level load usually above 800kg.
Heavy-duty racks are commonly used in logistics, warehousing and related fields. In actual selection, upright and beam materials should be chosen together from the goods unit size, per-level weight, pallet specs and forklift type.
